(2x) RARE Vintage Apple Interactive Television M4120 Set Top Box (STB) Prototype

  
These are two Apple Set Top Boxes. They are trial prototypes from the 1990s, in used condition. This device was never commercially produced it was only used for trials of an interactive TV service in Great Britain and the US, and as such only a small number of them were made. This unit is in good cosmetic condition and displays a red light on the front when plugged in. These can reportedly boot Mac OS 7.1 if you have the special video drivers, but getting one to boot is supposed to be an unbelievable chore. The top can be opened by removing one screw in the rear of the unit and sliding the cover off.

Inside, the unit's CPU is a 68LC040 processor and there is also a dedicated MPEG decoder chip. The unit has its ROM stored on a separate removable card, and also has slots for an expansion card and RAM.

These are pretty rare devices, and would be a good items for a serious Apple collectors.
