Vintage Drueke 36 Player's Choice Chess Set. Pieces and box in great condition.

No breaks or nicks that I can find. Very consistently weighted (not all player's choice sets are) with all original felts.

A true joy to play with, this set is a classic and getting harder to find. The top of the white queen seems like it was attached a few degrees off, but it looks original. This set is like new and doesn't appear to have ever been played with or repaired.

One of its most sought after products by Chess Collectors, the Players Choice Chessmen were first introduced to the public at the 1965 US National Open in Las Vegas. The Drueke Players Choice has two unique characteristics that made it very popular with chess players. It featured a wholly original design, one that is both attractive and very sturdy. The chess pieces lacked the ornate details that would often be broken during regular usage.

They were marketed as a "Simulated Wood Chessmen"; The plastic used to produce the Players Choice was colored to give the appearance of real wood. Sales of Drueke Chess products peaked during the Fischer Boom, when Bobby Fischer was frequently photographed practicing with his own set of Drueke chess pieces.
