HALLMARKED STERLING TOP MATCHING ETCHED SHOT GLASS. 3 DIMENSIONAL MOUNTED HUNTER / DOG / FOX MOTIF. This is a high quality hand etched lead crystal & sterling silver spirits flask for Whiskey, Liqueur or Wine in a desirable pocket size; 5 3/4" tall x 3 3/8" wide x 1 1/8" thick at the top, and tapers slightly to 7/8" at the base. This is custom made, modern flask created for use by a collaboration of top English Artisans & Craftsmen; and intended as a gift or presentation flask in it's original blue satin box. The flask was engraved by the firm R.

Everton & Son of Stourbridge, England; and the actual engraving was done by the son, and signed with the initials J. The silver top was made by M.

Yates & son of Birmingham, England. This genuine lead crystal pocket flask is heavy for it's size at 10.7 ounces or 303 grams. The matching shot glass is 1 3/4" tall x 1 1/2" wide at the top, and has a hand etched bushy tailed fox on the run, and weighs 1.4 ounces or 41 grams. This size is intended to be worn inside a jacket pocket of a Sporting Gent and well to do Gentleman of means. This flask has rounded shoulders and is slightly curved & tapered to fit the body in a jacket pocket or as a hip flask in the back pocket.

As a pocket flask, it doesn't have a flat bottom that would allow the flask to stand upright. The lead crystal body is hand blown into a mold as can be seen on the top shoulders, and then profusely hand etched on the front and back to form a 3 dimensional motif of a fox hunt. The rider mounted on his horse has the proper top hat, coat & boots; and the horse's tail is cropped. The mounted rider's hunting dog is running along chasing the fox with grass in the foreground. The reverse side is hand etched with a tree with many leaves, a fence, and the fox who is on the run.

The etchings on both the front and back create a 3 dimensional scene. Lesser quality flasks utilize a screw on cap. High quality flasks like this use a domed mushroom shaped cap top that rotates within a ring collar that is connected to the top half of the 5 pronged hinge.

The silver cap rotates clockwise to close and counter clockwise to open. The top stays in the closed position, held in place by the prong on the top front of the bottle lip that fit into one of the two corresponding slots in the rotating top cap.

The cork insert secures the top tightly. The silver has 5 Hallmark stampings. The neck is marked with the Birmingham Maker mark MDY, followed by the following 4 Hallmarks.

925 sterling mark, the Birmingham anchor city mark, the Pasant lion sterling mark and the S is the Birmingham date mark for 2017. The glass is clear with no chips or scratches, and has never been used.

There are no dings, dents or damage to the silver, as this piece is new in the box. Note; shiny objects with a reflective surface are extremely difficult to photograph. I took dozens of images to try to capture the details.

This flask is fine quality and in mint, unused condition overall. This handsome, eye-appealing flask would be perfect as a gift or presentation, for any Whiskey, Spirits, Gambling or Flask collection; and can be used by any Sporting Gent, sportsman, hunter, outdoors man, or sports fan, suitable for picnics, sporting events, travel, home or as a decorative or display piece in an office or Man cave.
